This Weeks Featured Seller Inki Handmade

"I grew up in Switzerland , then moved to America where I spent most of the latter half of my life. This past year, I moved back to Switzerland with my husband and our three cats. We’ve been settling in, enjoying the scenery and of course, crafting!

Besides crafting, I also enjoy hiking (it’s Switzerland ’s national sport, lol), biking, reading a good book, and hanging out with friends.

I’ve always had an affinity for the arts+crafts, starting from when I was little. I would doodle horses on paper, the wall, anywhere I could. My mother would crochet fancy dresses for my Barbie dolls, I loved them! When I eventually re-discovered crocheting in Los Angeles , I found many more crafts that I liked, including sewing and paper crafting. Starting an online business provided a way for me to share what I’ve made and help with the costs of obtaining supplies to continue to craft."

I Made My Kids Costumes For Halloween Here's How

This year for the first time I really wanted to make my halloween costumes for my girls. They were all over the idea, and had a great time in the fabric shop. We decided on witch costumes. I made a skirts, capes, and brooms for them.

1) Skirts: we decided on 2 different tulles for the skirts, and I took 2 yards of each. I used this method to make them http://thatgirlscrafty.blogspot.com/2009/09/tutorial-line-skirt-with-elastic-waist.html but instead of using a normal measurment for the width I made them like 3 times wider than that to create a more poofy skirt. I did the same measurements for each layer of tulle, and sewed them together at the top. Then I fooled the rest of the steps in the tut mentioned above. If you would like a tut for a no sew tutu this is a good one http://www.flickr.com/photos/ambrosialove/522118984/

2) Capes: The girls chose their fabric and I took 1 meter for each (almost a yard) They cut by Meters in Europe :) First I made straps by cutting 2 strips folding right sides together and turned right sideout by sticking a safety pin and feeding it through. Then I measured the across the back with arms extended. and I hemmed the top, then I sewed the straps around the neck area. My girls asked for a kind of winged cape to "fly" better :) so I put a small loop of elastic at each end for them to feed their hands through, and then I cut the bottom on kind of a half circle.

3) Brooms I think we had the most fun with this one. We went to the forest gatherd up small twigs and sticks for the bottom, and a big stick for the handle. We then put all the small sticks together and wrapped them with wire, and twine.

The rest of their costumes were just items we already had here. I have to say my days of purchasing costumes are over. It was so much more fun for my girls to be invloved the process of making thier costumes rather than just choosing them off the rack.

If you have any handmade costume ideas feel free to post them here. Happy Haunting!!

This Weeks Featured Seller Dig The Earth

My name is Kev and I'm one of the minority, the elusive Etsy male! I live in Yorkshire, UK with my wife and two young boys. My shop is called Dig The Earth, and I produce a range of eco-friendly greetings cards. All my cards are made from 100% recycled stock and come with fully biodegradable protective corn-starch 'cello wraps' – no harmful plastic involved at all! I also produce a range of hand drawn mirror frames. These are all shop bought frames that are made unique and hopefully a lot more desirable with my illustrations! I seem to spend a fair chunk of my time taking product photographs of my wife's fantastic handmade jewellery (you can check out some of my work in her Etsy shop: RubySpiritDesigns), but my 'proper job' is running the artwork studio for a design agency. I write a weekly blog for a UK based handmade site: www.coriandr.com and also post daily on my own handmade inspirational products blog: http://ilovehandmadeblog.blogspot.com – which aims to promote beautiful handmade products from around the world!

Please feel free to visit his shop by clicking here www.digtheearth.etsy.com

Easy Fun & Yummy Fall Recipes to do with your Kids

I love cooking with my girls and they love it too. So I have compiled a few of our favorite fall time recipies for you to try with your kids.

Easy Caramel Corn

3 quarts popping corn
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup corn syrup
1 stick of butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Put popcorn in a heavy paper bag. Melt butter in a saucepan and mix together sugar, syrup, and salt. Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and stir well. Pour into paper bag and stir with a wooden spoon.

Put bag in microwave and cook on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Take out and shake well. Cook for another 1 1/2 minutes. Shake bag again and pour into a large container. Serve in paper baggies that kids can decorate.

Pumpkin Bread

3 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs
2 cups pumpkin
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon allspice
1 cup pecans, chopped

Mix together sugar, oil, eggs, pumpkin, and vanilla in a large bowl. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl, add to pumpkin mixture, and stir well. Then add nuts. Bake in 2 loaf pans or coffee cans in a 350F degree oven for 1 hour 10 minutes.

Caramel Apples

12 apples (plus 12 popsicle sticks)
4 14-ounce packages of caramels
8 tablespoons heavy cream
crushed nuts

Rinse apples, pat dry, and remove apple stems and insert a popsicle stick into stem of each apple. Combine the cream and caramels in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until caramel is melted and smooth. Dip the apples into the caramel until completely covered. Let the extra caramel drip back into the saucepan. Roll in crushed nuts.

Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. Place apples upside down on waxed paper and refrigerate.
