This Weeks Featured Shop Kootenay Bath Products

Who dosen't love a nice bubble bath from time to time?? Check out this weeks seller she has great products and and even better prices!!

My name is Charlene, I live in a small town of Balfour, BC and I’m a wife and a mother of two great children who swim all year and they compete in the summer all over the Kootenays.

How Kootenay Bath Products came to be is that I ended up spending too much money on bubble baths and body butters from other store, that in 2007” I started making my own bath products. I decided to sell on line with Ebay and Etsy and that has been doing very well for me, I’ve shipped all over the world and alot of repeat customers. I do sell in some local stores here in Balfour at Gift and Gill as well as Nelson at the Kootenay Co-op and Mermaid Gallery. This summer started selling my products at Figments in Kaslo and at The Lady in the Tub Bed and Bath Boutique in Salmon Arm. Just recently a spa in Iqaluit, Nunavut (Canada) started selling my whipped body butters.

My packaging is nothing fancy, it’s all about what is inside. I make it affordable, because once you try them you’ll be back for more.

One question would you rather pay for packaging or the product? I personally would pay for a great product rather than their labels and a not so great product. If you spend $25.00 or more you will receive a free gift ( $8.00 value)

If you would like to visit her shop click here www.kootenaybathproducts.etsy.com and be sweet retweet so others can learn about her shop and products as well.

Tutorial Make a Coin Purse in 6 Easy steps!!

This is one of my favorite things to make. They are so handy and versitile, and they make great gifts as everyone needs one of these at one point.

You will need about 1/2 yard of fabric, matching thread, velcro, and sewing machine.

1) Cut 2 pieces of fabric into a rectangle, and sew right sides together leaving a small hole.
2) Turn the fabric right side out.
3)Stitch up the hole, you may want to stitch all the way around for extra durability.
4) Mark your spot for your velcro by laying your rectangle flat and folding the top up and the bottom down to where they overlap.
5) Pin your velcro in place and stitch using a small zigzag stitch all the way around.
6) Now fold the bottom up and stitch up the sides and Voila you are all done!!

As always If you've made something from any of my tuts I would love to post a picture. You can send it to me at bellesmademoiselles@yahoo.com and I will blog about you!!

This Weeks Featured Shop Studio MME

My shop, Studio MME, is where I sell unsigned and unnumbered prints of my original pen and ink illustrations. I work a lot with fairy tales and folktales but have recently branched out into my own stories. I'm drawn to the Edwardian and Victorian periods and love drawing highly detailed wallpaper. I've also recently stocked my shop with prints of the photographs I took with a 60 year old camera (that still had unused film in it) that I found in my grandmother's closet. It was so cool! The images look like they were taken decades ago, all grainy and foggy in areas. A very nice vintage touch.I've also had the pleasure of recently working with Polarity on Etsy. She's used her amazing talents and my prints to make two of her signature lockets. One features Ophelia, Hamlet, and a section of the play, while the other shows the big-wigged women from my, "A Very Victorian Tea Party," print. You can find both for sale at Polarity's shop, http://www.polarity.etsy.com/

This Weeks Featured Shop My Small World

Hello my name is Katie and I live in Cheshire in the UK. Etsy has to be one of my favourite places on the Internet and I really wanted to be part of this amazing place, so in July this year I took the plunge and opened my own shop, which is called My Small World. It was so exciting finding I’d made my very first sale, which was a handmade scrabble tile necklace. Since then I’ve been working on expanding my range of handmade goodies, from my first listing which was a felt and fabric brooch, to more scrabble tile necklaces and now hand sewn and embroidered felt needle cases and card holders. I’ve been making things for as long as I can remember, my earliest ‘creation’ was a hand sewn felt handkerchief holder, which I made when I was 8 years old. The lining was sewn on crookedly and the embroidery was a bit of a mess but it gave me a love of making things, especially with felt as it’s so forgiving, doesn’t fray and comes in a range of great colours.Since my first attempt at sewing, I’ve taught myself quite a few different crafts and am always looking for that next project to ‘have a go at’. I’ve always liked the ‘teach yourself as you go along’ approach, as I’m impatient when it comes to learning, I just want to look at how something’s made and start having a go right away! Saying that, I’m extremely patient if I don’t get it right first time and will keep trying until I’m happy with whatever I’m making. The only craft I haven’t been able to master so far is crochet, I used to be able to crochet “granny squares” but then decided to try my hand at knitting. Ever since I picked up a pair of knitting needles I can’t figure out how to crochet at all. It’s so weird – am I the first person ever to un-learn how to make something?I’ve still more ideas in the pipeline for my new shop, I’d like to sell some of the hand sewn mohair teddy bears I’ve made and I’ve got more ideas for my handmade felt goodies. Now if only I could get my head around crochet….

This Weeks Featured Shop Cara Lara

well...i've always painted and the like...for as long as i can remember. I studied art and graphic design at college years ago. I have a day job doing something completely different lol. I love faces and fashion design figures, so much so that i started a fashion design course last year (part time). Etsy has inspired me totally! I've discovered many talented artists and tried to find my own style borrowing others.....i know that sounds like i'm cheating.....but my faces are my own....but styles i have adapted. My goals.....i guess one day i would love to quit the day job and earn a living out of my art. I am starting to exhibit in local exhibitions and have sold a few paintings to date. I would love to challenge my style further and eventually have a range of products in shops whilst still producing art on a daily basis. Writing a book on life in general is also a huge want for me.

Please visit her shop at http://www.caralara.etsy.com/ her prices are surprisingly low. Or at her blog http://caralara1972.blogspot.com/

She is an amazing artist please retweet her so others can see her art as well!!!

Tutorial A line Skirt With Elastic Waist for Girls or Ladies **Very Simple**

Here is a tutorial perfect for novice sewers, but great for more expierenced ones as well. This is a fun and easy project to make for yourself or a loved one, and can also be made with a heavier fabric like corduroy to make it an appropriate item for fall. The one in the picture is one I have for sale in my etsy shop.

1) As always measure your subject around the waist, and lengthwise stopping a little longer than you want it to be.

2) Take your fabric fold it in half, RIGHT sides together length wise and ON THE FOLD. Measure 1/4 of the waist measurement. Example if your subject is 20" around devide that by 4 and you have 5". With a fabric marker and ruler, from the fold, make a straight line this length .
3) Now at the end of this line you will make another line downward on the diagonal like a triangle. At the end of this line make another straight line back to the fold. You should have a half triangle shape drawn.
4) Cut this piece out, and repeat all of these steps on your other piece of fabric.
5) Hem the bottom of each piece by folding and pressing, and repeating, then stitching along the top.
6) Lay your pieces RIGHT sides together and sew up each side I would go 1/4 to 1/2 an inch in for my girls I go even a little further as they are rough on clothes, and the closer to the edge your stitch is the the easier it will rip out. You can go back and overlock the sides afterward.
7) Time to make your casing for your elastic. Repeat the steps for hemming making sure you have about 3/4 to an inch of space for your elastic, and stitch your casing shut leaving a little hole to feed your elastic through.
8) Feed your elastic through by putting a saftey pin on either end and feeding it through the hole.
9) Sew the elastic ends together and close up the hole, and VOILA you've got yourself a great new skirt.

As always if you've made something with one of my tuts, send me a picture. I would love to post it on my blog.
